Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

This policy explains what StudyBuddy stores on your device when you use studybuddyapp.io, and why. StudyBuddy is operated by StudyBuddy AI, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

1. The short version

StudyBuddy doesn't set its own cookies and doesn't use any tracking, analytics or advertising technology. We keep a small amount of information in your browser's local storage so the app works — for example, keeping you signed in and remembering your settings. Because that storage is strictly necessary or directly part of features you use, we don't need to ask for consent for it, so you won't see a cookie banner.

2. What we store on your device

"Local storage" works like a cookie but stays on your device and isn't sent with every web request. This is what StudyBuddy stores:

WhatWhyType
Sign-in sessionKeeps you signed in between visits.Strictly necessary
Settings and preferencesTheme, timer lengths, room scene, sidebar layout, highlight colours, currency.Functional
Study progress on this deviceStreaks, XP, badges, goals and session counts shown in the app.Functional
Invite codeRemembers an invite link until you finish signing up, then it's removed.Functional

This information stays until you sign out, clear it, or it's no longer needed.

3. Third-party services

Some features load a service from another company, which may set its own cookies on its own website:

  • Google — only if you use “Continue with Google” on the waitlist form. Google's sign-in service may use cookies under Google's privacy policy.
  • Stripe — when you pay, you're taken to Stripe's secure checkout, which uses cookies for security and fraud prevention under Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Spotify — only if you add a Spotify playlist in Focus mode. The player may set cookies under Spotify's privacy policy.

These services only load when you choose to use the feature.

4. What we don't use

  • No analytics or usage-tracking tools.
  • No advertising, retargeting or social-media pixels.
  • No tracking of you across other websites, and no selling or sharing of your information for advertising.

If we ever add analytics or anything similar that isn't strictly necessary, we'll ask for your consent first with a clear choice to accept or decline, and update this policy before it goes live.

5. Managing storage

You can clear StudyBuddy's stored data at any time through your browser's settings (usually under "Privacy" → "Site data"), or by signing out. Clearing it will sign you out and reset your settings on that device. Blocking storage entirely will stop sign-in from working.

6. Changes to this policy

If what we store changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your personal information more broadly.
