Terms of Service

Last updated: September 29, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and StudyBuddy AI (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), which operates StudyBuddy at studybuddyapp.io. By creating an account or using StudyBuddy, you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund & Payment Policy.

1. What StudyBuddy is

StudyBuddy is an AI-assisted study tool. You upload lecture material (PDFs/slides) and StudyBuddy generates notes, quizzes, flashcards, mind maps, and voice conversations based on it, and offers study techniques (Pomodoro, Blurting, Feynman, Time Blocking).

2. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
  • You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use StudyBuddy.
  • If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and must approve any paid plan.

3. What you can upload

Only upload material you have the right to use — your own notes, or lecture material you're permitted to use for personal study. Don't upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, contains another person's private information without their consent, or is unlawful.

You give us permission to store and process what you upload — including sending it to our AI providers — only to provide StudyBuddy to you. We don't claim ownership of it and don't use it to train AI models.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use StudyBuddy to cheat in a way that violates your school or institution's academic integrity policy — StudyBuddy is a study aid, not a substitute for graded work you're required to produce yourself.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data, or probe/attack the service's security.
  • Use the service to generate unlawful, abusive, or harmful content.
  • Resell or redistribute the service without our permission.

5. AI-generated content

Notes, answers, quizzes, and explanations are generated by AI models based on your uploaded material and can be incorrect or incomplete. Use your own judgment, and verify anything important against your actual course material or instructor before relying on it academically.

6. Ownership

  • You keep ownership of the material you upload.
  • You own the notes, flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps StudyBuddy generates for you, and can export/print/delete them at any time.
  • We own the StudyBuddy app itself — its design, code, and branding.

7. Plans and payment

StudyBuddy has a Free plan with usage limits and paid plans (Pro and Elite) billed weekly, monthly, or per 3-month term. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel or pause at any time from your Account page. Usage described as "unlimited" is subject to fair use. Payments are processed by Stripe. Billing, cancellation, and refunds are covered in our Refund & Payment Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Availability

We aim to keep StudyBuddy available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may change, and we may suspend the service for maintenance.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Account settings — this permanently erases your data and cancels any subscription straight away (without a refund for the current period; see our Refund & Payment Policy for refunds). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly the Acceptable Use section above.

10. Liability

StudyBuddy is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including academic outcomes based on AI-generated content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. For significant changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that means you accept the revised terms; if you don't, you can cancel and stop using StudyBuddy.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer rights you have under the laws where you live.

13. Contact
